Case study
RenewalMonitor
A renewal-tracking SaaS we designed and built end to end — so a lapsed certificate, a silent auto-renewal, or an expired registration never catches you off guard.
RenewalMonitor is a web app for tracking anything that renews — contracts, certificates, licences, insurance policies, vehicle registrations, memberships, warranties, and subscriptions. It keeps every important date in one place and reminds the right people before anything lapses.
The problem
Renewals slip through the cracks. A professional certification expires. A subscription auto-renews unnoticed. A vehicle registration goes past due. Each one is small on its own, but the cost of missing it — a lapsed licence, a surprise charge, a compliance gap — is rarely small.
Most people manage this with a spreadsheet and their memory. RenewalMonitor replaces that with a system built for the job: every renewal in one place, and reminders that actually reach you before a deadline.
What it does
- Tracks any kind of renewal — with folders, tags, and custom fields to fit how you already work.
- Reminds you across three channels — email, SMS, and in-app — plus daily, weekly, or monthly digests.
- Reports on cost and spend — so you can see what is renewing, when, and what it costs.
- Shares with a household or team — optional multi-user access so a partner or colleague stays in the loop.
- Imports and exports — bring existing data in from CSV or Excel, and take it back out whenever you want.
How we built it
We designed and built RenewalMonitor end to end — from the first conversations about the problem through to a running, maintained product. Rather than bolt features together, we started by understanding how people actually keep track of renewals and shaped the system around that.
Technically, it is a single, modern web application: a robust server-side backend paired with a fast, reactive front end, so the whole product lives in one cohesive codebase. On top of that sit the pieces a real SaaS needs — full-text search, subscription billing, and multi-channel notifications that go out over email and text on a reliable background schedule. We lean on well-established, actively maintained tools rather than anything exotic, and keep the codebase typed and covered by an automated test suite.
The priority throughout is reliability and longevity: software that does the unglamorous work dependably, watching the calendar, sending the right reminder at the right time, and giving owners a clear view of what is due and what it costs — quietly, in the background, every day.
